Diabetes Treatment --- the Alternative Ways
I'm Bob Fleming, and I own and maintain this website, TheDiabetestInfoPlace.com I'm NOT a doctor or a diabetes professional --- I'm a diabetic.
Ever since I found out I had diabetes, I've been determined not to let my condition have any more negative influence on my life than I could help. For that reason, I like to check into any idea or method I hear of for better diabetes management.
Recently I've been led more and more towards treatments and therapies that are non-traditional, or "alternative" in nature. Alternative medicine encompasses many therapies and methods, and the term itself simply means it is an alternative to convention medicine. It's a very wide field, and some seem more attractive than others. Some I've tried and liked, some I've tried and didn't like so much, others just didn't appeal so I never tried them at all.
What I've decided to do is put the results of my research up on the site so that you can find the information all in one place, and I hope it will help you find the best approach for you. In this introductory article I'm going to touch on various therapies or disciplines and just explain what they are in general terms. Other articles will focus on them separately, with more in-depth information.
Now before I go any further, I want to make one thing perfectly clear once again. I am NOT a doctor. Please don't take anything you read here as professional advice. Before I take any steps to try anything new in connection with my diabetes, I always check with my doctor, and I strongly recommend you do the same. Many enlightened doctors today are open to understanding all the available treatments and therapies and not just conventional medicine, and will be happy to discuss your options with you.
With that said, let's take a look at some of these alternatives to conventional medicine in the treatment of diabetes.
Food
Food? Food is a treatment? Well, I don't know if you'd call it that, but there are many so-called "functional foods" that serve to protect our bodies against disease and even to help treat certain conditions. That includes diabetes.
